Bishop Guilfoyle High School prepares students for success. Students learn to take responsibility for themselves, their learning, and their success.
No two students have exactly the same schedule since it is based on their interests, capabilities, and plans. Students take courses that prepare them for their future, and even average students challenge themselves by taking college level courses while in high school.
As they grow, more experiences become available. Travel, both domestic and international, can be part of the academic experience. Internships, Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and self-guided study are available.
The BG experience encourages each student to shape their own experience.
While students succeed academically, the environment, coursework and experiences also develop them morally. Religion is taught with critical thinking expected. “What do you believe and why do you believe it” is a favorite question. There is a strong Catholic ministry, that is student led, because they take it on themselves. There are also many students of other Christian and non-Christian faiths as well as atheists and agnostics which we believe strengthens the school. Our fundamental premise is a search for Truth, Beauty, and Goodness which is core to the Catholic religion. We are proud of our Catholic heritage and the positive, supportive environment we maintain that is truly welcoming to students and famlies of all faith, and no faith tradition.
While most students go on to college (and save time and money from with college credits already completed), an increasing number are discovering that they can enter the workforce and earn significant salaries right away. Virtually all graduates are college-ready even if they do enter the workforce or military. They are ready to be successful.
Academic offerings range from strong foundation-level to college-level courses across all academic disciplines. As students progress through the grades, the program of study becomes increasingly flexible and offers an extensive array of electives beyond core curriculum. Students challenge themselves in a supportive atmosphere that fosters each child’s naturally inquisitive nature to take themselves as far as they can go.
Students emerge as confident learners, ready to tackle whatever new concepts and innovations come their way. BG’s holistic education is based in our mission “to prepare young men and women for rewarding and productive lives in our global society” and to nurture students to grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
