Tuition, Aid, and Affordability

Tuition Rates and expected family contribution are shown below. Tuition at BG is very reasonable compared to schools of comparable quality,  BG is affordable after financial aid and scholarships are awarded. If you are concerned about whether you can afford to send your children to BG, give the school a chance to show you how we can make it affordable, and know that it is worth the cost. You would (1) apply for admissions, (2) enroll (after acceptance), (3) fill out financial aid form, then (4) receive your aid/scholarship awards and final net tuition cost and set up your payment plan (monthly, quarterly, 2x/year, etc).

Below, you will see the full tuition cost as well as the typical amounts paid by families at certain household income ranges. This is the net cost after financial aid awards are made. Each family’s circumstances are different and that is why the financial aid amounts may vary.

  • In addition to the net tuition outlined above, there are certain fees to cover specific out of pocket costs, such as an annual technology fee.  There is also a fundraising requirement. This is to help reduce the amount that parents need to pay out of pocket. The school sponsors fundraisers throughout the year that parents participate in to meet this requirement which is currently: $450 for elementary, $650 for Jr/Sr High, and up to $1,000 for families with multiple children in both elementary and Jr/Sr High.  If the goal is not met, the difference would be added to the parent’s invoice.  Participating in fundraisers is a great way to build community, meet other families, and support a good cause – helping families to afford attending BG.

How can I receive a scholarship from the Federal (Education Freedom Tax Credit; EFTC) or PA state tax credit (Educational Investment Tax Credit; EITC) program?

These sources of funds are included in the financial aid process, automatically. BG evaluates whether you are eligible to receive an EITC or EFTC (coming in 2027) scholarship as part of your financial aid application. When you apply for aid, you will upload your financial information and become verified. Then, all sources of funding are used to create your financial aid award.  If you are eligible according to the federal or state guidelines, these awards may make up a portion of your overall discount as part of need-based financial aid.  If you are not eligible, you may be considered for a discretionary award which is not need based and are drawn from other, more limited funds.

By using all sources of funding (including annual donations, endowment income, Independent Catholic Foundation awards, PA EITC, and coming in 2027, Federal EFTC), Bishop Guilfoyle is able to meet families full demonstrated financial need. Once you receive your financial award (reflected in the net cost to families shown in the tables above), you will not be eligible to receive additional state or federal tax credit scholarships as they would already be included in your financial aid award.
