What Is a Planned Gift?
A planned gift is a thoughtful way to support Bishop Guilfoyle Academy through your long-term financial and estate planning. Planned gifts:
-
Allow you to make a charitable gift now that is realized after your lifetime
-
May provide financial benefits today; if your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift may qualify for an estate tax charitable deduction for its full value
-
Are made from assets in your estate and do not affect your current disposable income
-
Are fulfilled upon your death
-
Are possible for everyone—even those with modest means
Planned giving is simple, flexible, and meaningful.
Designate BG as a Beneficiary of Your IRA or 401(k)
One of the simplest and most impactful planned gifts is naming Bishop Guilfoyle Academy as a beneficiary of your IRA or 401(k).
-
Log in to your retirement account and update your beneficiary designation to allocate a percentage to Bishop Guilfoyle Academy
-
Some providers allow this to be completed entirely online; others may require a simple form
-
Your financial advisor can assist with the process if needed
Please notify the Advancement Office so we may thank you and recognize your generosity.
A Gift in Your Will
A charitable bequest allows you to support Bishop Guilfoyle Academy through your will or trust.
-
Your gift may be a percentage of your estate or a specific dollar amount, security, or property
-
Bishop Guilfoyle Academy will receive your designated gift upon your passing
Sample Bequest Language
I give and bequeath ____% of the rest and residue of my property, both real and personal, belonging to me at the time of my death and remaining after payment or provision for taxes and other expenses, to Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School d/b/a Bishop Guilfoyle Academy, c/o the Advancement Office, 2400 Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602.
Please note:
Because your gift is not finalized until your death, you may change or revise your plans at any time. We understand that personal circumstances evolve, and flexibility is always respected.
Gifts of Life Insurance
A gift of life insurance is another effective way to support Bishop Guilfoyle Academy. Many individuals own policies that are no longer needed for their original purpose. By naming BG as a beneficiary—or transferring ownership of a policy—you can make a meaningful and often tax-advantaged gift.
Life insurance proceeds are paid shortly after death, providing timely support for the school’s mission. Please contact the Advancement Office to learn more about this option.
A Lasting Legacy
Including Bishop Guilfoyle Academy in your estate plans is a simple yet powerful way to create a lasting legacy. Planned gifts are versatile, flexible, and can offer valuable tax benefits—while ensuring that future students have access to a BG education rooted in faith, excellence, and opportunity.
