Arts & Drama

BG STUDENTS EXCEL IN ARTS AND DRAMA.

Through both visual and performing arts, students are given opportunities to explore interests, build confidence, and develop creative talents. All students at Bishop Guilfoyle Academy participate in a comprehensive arts program.

Visual Arts

Students acquire skills and aesthetic understanding while learning to think creatively.

The Fine Arts program for grades 3–12 follows a sequential, spiraling curriculum that blends technical skill development with imagination and personal expression. Students explore a variety of techniques and mediums to showcase their artistic talents.

Student artwork is displayed and celebrated throughout the school year.

Performing Arts

Drama:
The Drama Department produces a theatrical production each spring, offering students hands-on experience both on stage and behind the scenes. Students participate in acting, directing, set design, lighting and sound, stage management, and marketing.

BG students also participate in the Isaac Awards through the Altoona Community Theatre (ACT). Most recently, students earned Runner-Up for Student Choreography and received the Isaac Award for Professionalism.

Choral:
Students develop vocal talents through choral and solo performance. Choir students perform at various events throughout the year, with opportunities for an auditioned choir. Private vocal lessons are also available.

Instrumental:
Individual instrumental instruction begins in elementary school and continues through high school. The BG Band performs throughout the year at school and community events.
